Nutrivise is a serious game that combines playful learning with strategic thinking to help teenagers build healthy eating habits. Our student team, Fruity Fun Labs, developed it over four months as a university project in Unity 5. It targets secondary school students aged 13 to 16 and is designed as a companion to the classroom subject “Health and Nutrition.”

As game designer, I was responsible for shaping the overall gameplay experience. The aim is to teach players essential knowledge about nutrients, balanced meals, and healthy eating in a way that is genuinely engaging. Play cards, learn smart!

Balancing education and fun is the hardest part of making a serious game, and it shaped most of our design discussions. Players should walk away knowing healthy eating habits and what nutrients foods actually contain, yet the game still had to be worth playing on its own. My answer was an independent scoring system that shows players at a glance how healthy each food is. From there, the strategy layer takes over, and players learn the best ways to combine those foods into complete meals.
